Even first time gardeners will find apartment gardening easy with these simple tips. These useful techniques will help create a beautiful environment no matter the size of your apartment.

Learn about the basics

=> Start with the best soil possible, soil that easily disintegrates in your hands. Sometimes, you have to use additives like sand, clay, or compost to get the best soil.

=> On an average, give your plants one inch of water every week, preferably in the morning. Check your plants regularly, make sure you don’t let them dry out.

=> Be wary of pests. You can pest-proof your plants and keep then green and healthy. To avoid pest problems before they occur, choose plants that are most appropriate for the environment you have. If a problem arises, choose natural and environment-friendly pesticides.

Nurture your plants

Devote enough time for your apartment gardening plants and you will be rewarded highly. Nurture your plants with care and love, a little bit of feeding, right temperature, occasional spruce up, adequate light, right moisture. It will be time well spent and your plants will reward you for it. A tip for beginners: opt for plants that require low maintenance.

Choose your plants wisely

Find the plants that go best with the kind of environment that you have. A good choice for apartment gardening is a spider plant; it requires minimal attention, space and sunlight. It’s definitely a breeze for beginners and it will create a lovely accent in your home.

Another plant that is very tolerant for apartment gardening is the leafy Chinese evergreen. The capability of this plant to clean the air in your home presents an added benefit. There are many other varieties of indoor plants that you can find around. Choose the one that will suit your condition the most.

Do what you love! Love what you do!

Always remember that you have to love what you are doing. Plants are like people, show them love and they bloom. They’re attention seekers at times, too; they will be happy if you give them their own space. But no matter how much space you have in your apartment, you can always create your own garden masterpiece, nourish your plants, and help maintain clean, green, and healthy environment.

Enjoy!
